Selecting the Right Headset Plug Type

February 12, 2025

Selecting the right plug type for you and your aircraft will ensure that you’re able to get your new Lightspeed Delta Zulu or Zulu 3 headset connected out-of-the-box.* You can select from three standard headset plug types to best suit your needs.

  • Dual GA – This plug type will work in most fixed wing airplanes, even if other types of panel jacks are available. Dual GA plugs are a good option for pilots who switch between aircraft.
  • LEMO / Panel Power (6-Pin) – This plug option connects your headset to an airplane equipped with a panel-powered jack through a single connector. If you are using the lithium-ion battery included with the Lightspeed Delta Zulu headset, power from the panel will also charge your battery pack during operation.
  • Heli (U-174) – Select this plug type to use your headset in helicopters.

If you expect to primarily use your headset in a plane equipped with panel power, but you occasionally switch to a fixed-wing craft without that option, you can purchase our Panel Power (6-Pin) to Dual GA plug adaptor to provide additional flexibility.

Custom plug types can also be ordered for pilots in commercial or corporate aircraft at an additional cost. Please contact our Customer Support team at 1-800-332-2421 before ordering for additional information.

* The Lightspeed Sierra aviation headset is offered only with the Dual GA plug type option which supports most fixed wing applications.
