Portland, OR (February 19, 2016) — Lightspeed Aviation, a leading manufacturer of premium aviation headsets and OpenAirplane, an online aircraft rental booking service that allows pilots to skip local checkouts, have teamed up to offer pilots a chance to win the latest Lightspeed products.

From February 19 through March 27, 2016, OpenAirplane will track both their members’ flight hours and the number of airports they fly out of*. The score resulting by multiplying hours and airports determines the winner:

  • Highest score wins one of Lightspeed’s new Tango™ wireless headsets, the first wireless headset with premium performance and features.
  • Second highest score wins a beautiful Lightspeed Gann leather flight bag. The Gann is handmade from full-grain, oiled South American cowhide and incorporates insightful features designed for the modern pilot, like purpose-built pockets for headsets, iPads, and transceivers, and rugged, but wing-friendly, textured PVC bottoms.

“We are excited by the opportunity to partner with OpenAirplane, an innovative company devoted to removing a big obstacle to flying,” said Teresa De Mers, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support at Lightspeed. “We are especially excited to be working together on a contest that encourages pilots to fly more often.”

A second Gann flight bag will also be awarded to the pilot who shows the most community service-oriented use of OpenAirplane, as determined by a panel of judges from the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation and OpenAirplane.

“Compassion and giving back are core values at Lightspeed,” said De Mers. “When OpenAirplane suggested this second contest, we knew it was a great fit.”
