Lightspeed Aviation® today introduced The Duke, a purpose-built black leather backpack for the modern pilot. Continuing our tradition of naming the Adventure Flight bags after noted aviation authors, the newest addition is named the “Duke” after Neville Frederick Duke, the World War II British test pilot, fighter ace and writer. This functional backpack was created with the same aviation focus Lightspeed brings to our headsets, incorporating essential features required by modern pilots with attention to detail and the highest quality materials.
The Duke is handmade from full grain, oiled South American black cowhide and has its own distinctive grain and markings, making each bag as unique as the pilot who owns it. It features gusseted pockets on both sides – one with a security clasp for radio with transceiver, and one for a water bottle. The elegant top stitching is cohesive with the Adventure Flight Bag collection, as is the PVC bottom to help mitigate damages to vulnerable materials of the aircraft.
The moisture wicking materials on the back creates a cool and comfortable experience for the wearer, and a designated zippered laptop pocket has two sections for any mobile device needed for the pilot on the go. Also, a convenient Velcro strap on the back can be used to hook to roller bag luggage or secure your backpack straps.
Other amenities of the Duke include a voluminous interior with enough space for a headset, camera equipment, flight charts and log books or any other piloting essentials. A plush lined pocket for eyeglasses and sunglasses, a purpose-built Velcro loop hang tag for an aviation headset, and mesh pockets for credit cards, pens, wallets, and any other accessories provide those well thought out touches that pilots have come to expect from Lightspeed.
